If you ever read ‘Five cocktails that go great with steak’, you’ll know that we think some cocktails work better with steak than others. We’re continuing that today with 5 more cocktails that combine summer with our favourite type of dinner.
Summer is in full flow, the world has opened up again, The Stone Grill is busy and the world is slowly improving. What better time to enjoy a sunny evening than with a steak on a stone and a delicious cocktail?
Here are 5 summer cocktails that perfectly complement a steak. Try one and see what you think!
I recently discovered strawberry vodka and I love it! This isn’t the usual flavoured vodka you buy but a home made cocktail.
Take a few fresh strawberries, crush them a little in a glass, add some good quality vodka and some lemonade and ice.
Simple but so very effective and delicious with steak!
If anyone knows how to enjoy a drink in the sunshine, it’s the Spanish. Sangria is a case in point.
Add a bottle of red wine to a jug, add 2 chopped oranges, 2 chopped pears, 1 chopped lemon, 1 squeezed lemon, 200g of summer berries, 3 tbsp of sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon and ice.
You can optionally add some brandy or water to taste if you like.
Ice ice tea
If you’re the designated driver or don’t drink, you don’t need to miss out on summer cocktails with steak. This easy ice tea recipe still packs the flavour punch.
Add 1 litre of water into a jug with 4 tea bags, 2 tbsp of sugar, 1 tbsp of honey and leave to chill. Add ice, juice of 1 lemon and 1 chopped lemon, 1 sliced orange and some mint leaves before serving.
Apple prosecco spritzer
The apple prosecco spritzer is another recent discovery thanks to a close friend of mine who introduced me to them. This goes amazingly well with steak!
Add 400 ml of quality apple juice to a jug or punch bowl. Then add 200 ml of quality vodka and the juice of 2 lemons. Chill for a couple of hours so the lemon steeps in the vodka.
Add 750ml of prosecco, 1 finely sliced apple and ice to serve.
What summer cocktail list would be complete without a Pimm’s? This recipe adds a pomegranate twist that works so very well with steak!
Add 200 ml of Pimm’s to a jug and add 200 ml of pomegranate juice. Allow to chill in the fridge for an hour or two. Thinly slice some cucumber and add it to the jug.
Garnish with some pomegranate seeds, add 500-600 ml of lemonade and serve.
We like all of these summer cocktails and have tried them all. It’s tough to pick a favourite, so we won’t. We’ll leave that to you!
